Kenneth Watson is a third generation Oklahoman whose family moved to Oklahoma before statehood. Kenneth is a third generation graduate of Langston University. A native of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Kenneth graduated high school there, and later graduated from Langston University with a Bachelors Degree in History. In 1966, Kenneth relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, and obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree from Cleveland State University, Cleveland Marshall College of Law.
After working several years for the City of Cleveland as an Assistant City Attorney, in the Criminal Division, Kenneth moved back home, and began working for the Oklahoma County Public Defender’s office as a criminal litigator. In 1983, Kenneth started his private law practice and began a law career committed to providing his clients with the best possible legal representation. That practice has included over 500 criminal trial, and hundreds of criminal and civil cases for whom he provided legal representation.
Kenneth is one of the founding members of the Oklahoma City Black Lawyers Association and participates annually in Law Day activities, sponsored by the Oklahoma Bar Association, giving free legal advice to those without means or ability to seek legal counsel. Kenneth is an active and proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. In March, 2007, Kenneth was the keynote speaker at the Langston Universities Founder’s day Celebration and was presented the Langston University Distinguished Alumni award.
An avid supporter and life member in the Langston University Alumni Association, Kenneth is a very proud Langston Lion. Kenneth’s parents are former professors and graduates of Langston University as are his bother and sister. As a student, Kenneth started on the LU football team and has helped establish the Langston University Sports Hall of Fame. He is a former president of the LU Booster Club and was an adjunct professor for many years in the Langston University School of Business.
In November, 2006, Kenneth, after thirty (30) years in the practice of law, was elected Oklahoma County District Judge, for the Seventh Judicial District, State of Oklahoma.
Kenneth is married to Rita and has one daughter
