AARP
Our community service programs carry on the spirit of AARP's motto "to serve, not to be served" to fulfill a
number of needs in neighborhoods in the Unites States. We believe the essence of community service is taking the time to
reach out and help others in need. The AARP Foundation is committed to building on our long tradition of offering a variety
of programs that serve communities directly. Teaming with AARP, the Foundation tackles critical areas with programs that:
- Help older job seekers find the skills and self-confidence they need to reenter
the workforce and earn much-needed income;
- Assist older Americans who are coping with grief and loss ;
- Give older homeowners financial information about how to stay in their homes ;
- Connect those in need with benefit programs such as
assistance plans;
- Offer free income tax preparation services for older and low-income Americans;
- Serve those with limited means or cognitive impairments who need help with basic financial activities, like writing checks; and
- Protect the legal rights of older Americans.
