Home Repair Assistance

Various municipal and non-profit agencies provide grants and interest-free loans to allow senior citizens to repair both owner-occupied and rented properties. Some restrictions apply. There may be a waiting list.

• Rebuilding Together
  Volunteers provide free home repair for low-income homeowners age 60 and above residing in Oklahoma City. Can also install wheelchair ramps, grab bars, handrails, deadbolts; can replace broken windows; also perform minor plumbing repairs. See website for downloadable application.

• Community Action Agency, Inc.
  Assists low-income elderly homeowners and renters in locating contractors to perform weatherization and minor repairs. Work can include installation of wheelchair ramps, electrical, or plumbing work.

  Assists Oklahoma City owner-occupants age 62 and older (or disabled) with both interior and exterior renovations. Offers list of approved contractors.

  "Operation Paintbrush," in conjunction with volunteer agencies, assists low-income seniors living in Midwest City needing minor exterior repairs and weatherization to their homes. Call for application.
