Meet Patricia Presley

Hello, and welcome to the Oklahoma County Court Clerk's web site. I'm Patricia Presley, your District Court Clerk.

The District Court of Oklahoma County has the largest case load of any court in Oklahoma. It is the primary responsibility of my office to preserve and protect the records necessary to conducting court in Oklahoma County.

Another important duty of the Court Clerk, is to receive, account for, and properly disburse millions of dollars in court funds and criminal fines each year. Protecting public funds is a job I, and my staff, take very seriously; and I am proud to say no public dollars have gone unaccounted for in my years as your Court Clerk.

Perhaps the primary job a Court Clerk has, though, is to provide good customer service. Every year, thousands of customers come to the Oklahoma County Courthouse for everything from passports to beverage licenses; from child custody and support matters to traffic tickets. A primary goal of ours is to assist customers with their business before the courts.

To achieve success in our duties, I have initiated several first-time changes in the Court Clerk's Office. Citizens summoned to jury service are now processed using bar codes and computers, saving their time and that of the courts.

Legal papers in several court divisions are now being recorded by computer imaging, which yields many benefits, including reduced paper handling and storage, and enhanced public access to court documents. I hope to electronically record every court paper and to initiate digital filing in the years to come.

And, of course, working in cooperation with the Supreme Court's computer department, Oklahoma County court dockets are available for viewing 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, via the court's web site at OSCN.NE T.

I should mention that court clerks also have county government finance responsibilities, in counties where budget boards are used. Oklahoma County is a budget board county; and I am proud to have helped produce a balanced Oklahoma County budget every year I have served in office.

Oklahoma County Court Clerk is the only elective office I've ever sought. It is humbling to have gained my friends' and neighbors' confidence, in serving in this office, in the county where I was born, grew up, attended school, go to church, and where I make my home. I look forward to serving the citizens of Oklahoma County as your Court Clerk for many years to come.
