Judge Noma D. Gurich has been a trial judge for more than 17 years and has presided over more than 125 jury trials during her career as a District Judge.  She served as the Presiding Administrative Judge for the Seventh Judicial District, Oklahoma County from January 1, 2003-December 31 2004.  She won a county-wide election for District Judge November of 1998.  She was re-elected without opposition in 2002.  Judge Noma D. Gurich began her judicial career on the Oklahoma Workers' Compensation Court by governor appointment, where she served as Presiding Judge for four years.  Prior to her appointment to the bench, Judge Gurich was engaged in the private practice of law in Oklahoma City, OK.

Judge Gurich was born in South Bend, Indiana.  She was graduated Magna Cum Laude from Indiana State University and she received her law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.  She was an editor of the American Indian Law Review and was selected by her classmates to receive the Professional Responsibility Award in 1978.

Judge Gurich is a member of the American Bar Association, the Oklahoma Bar Association, the Oklahoma Judicial Conference, the Oklahoma Trial Judges Association and the Oklahoma County Bar Association. She was the Law Day 2002 Co-Chair of the County Bar, and was awarded the 2002 Outstanding Committee Award.  She is a member of the OBA Professionalism Committee.  She is a member of the Oklahoma Supreme Court's standing committee on Uniform Civil Jury Instructions.  Judge Gurich is a Master member of the William J. Holloway, Jr. American Inn of Court.  She received the 2003 Mona Salyer Lambird Spotlight Award from the OBA Women in Law Committee.  She was nominated for The Journal Record Woman of the Year for 2005.

Judge Gurich's professional activities include judging the OBA sponsored Oklahoma High School Mock Trial Competition, and the annual First Year Law Student Moot Court Competition at the University of Oklahoma College of Law.  Judge Gurich has served as a member of the faculty for the OU Law School Graduate School of Successful Trial Advocacy.  Judge Gurich is a guest speaker in both law school and college classes.  She is a frequent speaker for continuing education seminars. 

She is a President-Elect and a member of the Board of Directors for the Kiwanis Club of Oklahoma City.  She was awarded the Lawperson of the Year Award for 2003-2004 by the Texas-Oklahoma Kiwanis International District, and the Texas-Oklahoma District 19 Layperson of the Year Award for 2003-04.  Judge Gurich received the Community Service Award from the Oklahoma City Club for 2003-04.  Judge Gurich is a volunteer for many community projects including Habitat for Humanity, Rebuilding Together with Christmas in April Project, the Festival of the Arts, the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, and is an annual bell ringer for the Salvation Army.  She serves annually on the Application Screening Committee for the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics.  Judge Gurich is an active member of  St. Luke's United Methodist Church, where she teaches adult classes, is a volunteer Mobile Meals driver and TV camera operator.  Judge Gurich served as a missionary to Russia in 1993, 1997, 2002 and 2004.
