The 2005, Ford F-450, is equipped with a 300 gallon water tank, has a self contained skid unit, and four-wheel drive. The primary purpose of the vehicle is to allow firefighter’s the ability to battle grass fires in difficult terrain. Roth explained the donation was possible due to a statutory provision that allows the County to assist smaller jurisdictions with fire equipment needs because of an existing mutual cooperation network that provides for responses to an emergency situation by all neighboring cities and towns.

“I am extremely pleased District One and the people of Oklahoma County were able to provide the citizens of Nicoma Park with this equipment,” Roth said. “Programs like this one, designed to enhance public safety, are a wise and effective use of public funds.”

Mayor Green, speaking on behalf of the residents of Nicoma Park thanked the citizens of Oklahoma County. “We appreciate Commissioner Roth and the people of Oklahoma County for their continued support,” he said. “By donating this equipment, we are able to offer better fire and public safety protection to our citizens without placing additional strain on our budget.”

Roth, in the third year of a four year term, has made similar presentations to the City of Choctaw and the Town of Forest Park.
