Oklahoma County (April 19th, 2006) – The Board of County Commissioners recently announced they are accepting proposals from eligible agencies for FY 2006 – 07 Community Support Grants. In order to be eligible to receive a grant, agencies must be located in Oklahoma County and have been in business a minimum of three years.

The grants are designed to benefit Oklahoma County 's indigent and senior population. The funds received by the agency go to projects that provide food assistance, transportation, adult daycare, utility assistance, and emergency shelter. Agencies receiving grant dollars are prohibited from charging any fee related to the service provided. The Chair of the Oklahoma County Board of Commissioners, Jim Roth, said that he and his colleagues on the board “recognize the importance of supporting non-profit and faith based organizations dedicated to meeting the needs of our citizens.”

A committee has been established by the board to review and make recommendation regarding recipients of this years funding. Final approval of all grants will reside with the board.

Last years recipients shared more than $150,000 in funding.
