Oklahoma County Announces Debris Removal Plan for Rural Residents
Oklahoma City – District 3 Oklahoma County Commissioner and Board Chairman Ray Vaughn, R-Edmond, today announced Oklahoma County’s debris removal guidelines for residents who live in unincorporated Oklahoma County.
“I am please to announce Oklahoma County is ready and willing to help our rural residents with debris removal caused by the recent ice storm,” said Vaughn. “All three of your County Commissioners and their road crews have already been tremendously involved with ensuring safe travel on our super snow routes and county roads, but debris removal from our section-line roads is also just as important. Despite the threat of snow, Oklahoma County can now help our residents with debris removal from their property.”
Guidelines for the debris removal from rural properties in unincorporated Oklahoma County are as follows:
- The debris removal is for vegetative debris only.
- The timeframe for debris removal is December 17, 2007, through January 18, 2008.
- If you have contracted with a company for debris removal, then the contractor is responsible for removal and disposal of all debris.
- Oklahoma County will issue cease-and-desist letters to contractors leaving any debris in the right-of-way.
- Vegetative debris must be placed at least 10 feet from the edge of the curb or road and branches cannot be longer than 12 feet.
- For uninsured ice storm damage rural residents are encouraged to call the Oklahoma Damage Assessment Hotline at 866.560.7584.
- Rural residents are encouraged to call the 211 hotline for more information regarding vegetative debris removal.
