Commissioner Roth dedicates Linda M. Olsen Memorial Bridge

The Linda M. Olsen Memorial Bridge

Oklahoma County Commissioner Jim Roth, District One, will dedicate the Linda M. Olsen Memorial Bridge on April 12, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. The Bridge is located on Indian Meridian over Choctaw Creek, ¼ mile North of NE 23rd Street, within the City of Choctaw, Oklahoma.

Linda Olsen was a proud resident of Oklahoma County for many years and lived in the Arcadia area with her husband Eric Olsen. She was a 27 year employee of the Oklahoma County Clerk’s office where she provided valuable contribution toward deed work associated with many road and bridge projects.

Linda served as a leader, a teacher and a role model for County employees with her diligent, dependable, knowledgeable, consistent, cooperative, professional, generous and resourceful personality. Linda Olsen’s life tragically ended in an automobile accident on September 28, 2004.

The City of Choctaw contributed funding for the design of this bridge which was engineered by Dewberry Design Group, Incorporated, of Tulsa, Oklahoma. K & R Builders, Inc. constructed the bridge at a total project cost of $270,000.00.

Oklahoma County District One aggressively secured funding for the bridge through federal dollars administered by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. The District is continuing aggressive pursuit of any available funding sources to rehabilitate and replace inadequate bridges in northeast Oklahoma County. Programming has begun for seven additional bridges during the next five years.

This initiative is the result of Commissioner Roth’s commitment to improve roads and bridges in Oklahoma County District One.
