Commissioner Johnson Honors Life of Maxine Stell

At a recent meeting of the Oklahoma County Board of County Commissioners, District One Commissioner Willa Johnson and her colleagues on the board honored the life of Maxine Patrick Stell for her dedication to the City of Oklahoma City and Oklahoma County.
Mrs. Stell, and her husband late husband Sidney, owned and operated Stell’s Restaurant. In addition, to her work in the family business, Mrs. Stell was an active member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, attended Prayer Service, and served in the St John Women’s Missionary Union. Mrs. Stell also participated with, and provided support to, the NAACP Youth Council and the Miss Black Oklahoma Pageant throughout her life time.
“It is a pleasure to honor the life and accomplishments of Mrs. Stell,” said Johnson. “Her giving spirit and service to the community will be truly missed by all,” concluded the Commissioner.
Mrs. Stell’s son, Austin Patrick, and daughter, Lavelma Denson, both of Oklahoma City, represented the family at the meeting to accept the resolution on behalf of the family. In addition to Austin and Lavelma, Mrs. Stell is survived by daughters: Charleszetta (Joseph) Anderson of Dayton, Ohio; Cydney Stell of Oklahoma City; eight sisters: Patricia Stine of San Jose, California; Bertha (Frank) Willis, Yvonne Sanders, Vella Clayton, and Wilma Scarborough of Tulsa; Irene Crenshaw of Dallas, Texas; Velma (Ralph) Bagby and Geneva (Lewis) Hanson of Okmulgee, and brother John Patrick, Jr. also of Okmulgee.
