Brent Rinehart

Oklahoma County Commissioner, District 2

Brent Rinehart's introduction to politics occurred in 2000 when he was elected to the Oklahoma City Council where he served for 4 years. Prior to his 2004 election to the office of County Commissioner District 2, Brent owned and operated Rinehart Air Conditioning & Heating for ten years.

Brent is known for his reform successes while on the City Council. Brent succeeded at closing down illegal strip bars, sponsored measures that recognize our veterans by giving those who honorably served our country preference in the hiring process for city jobs, sponsored a measure that puts Oklahoma City on record as recognizing September as Veterans Appreciation Month, opposed tax increases and oversaw 133 miles of road resurfacing in his Council District. Today, the most vibrant economic development in Oklahoma City is in Ward 4.

Commissioner Rinehart knows first hand what it takes to make a business run successfully and make the bottom line. Brent campaigned on a platform to bring a more business like and professional approach to county government while advancing economic development. His guiding goals are to restructure, reduce and reform government on behalf of the taxpayer.

In his first few days in office, Commissioner Rinehart was confronted with a change in County employment policy that was an attack on traditional values. Commissioner Rinehart introduced a measure to bring Oklahoma County Equal Employment Opportunity policy into conformance with state statutes. Most importantly, Brent is an advocate of freezing property taxes for all retirees and capping them at 1% for all others.
