District 2 is the Aviation, Technology, Health Sciences and Manufacturing Center of Oklahoma County
We are located at the crossroads of America. District 2 is where travelers from East or West use I-40 and visitors from North or South use I-35. At midpoint from coast to coast, we are truly a great location for manufacturing and commerce. Our sunny weather and mild temperature make us a great location for aviation. An additional economic benefit found in Oklahoma is the work ethic. Oklahomans are hard working and resourceful people who are making a difference in their community, state and nation.
District 2 encompasses parts of Oklahoma City, Bethany, Del City, Midwest City, Choctaw and Harrah. Aviation and aviation support services are found with Tinker Air Force Base, Will Rogers World Airport and Wiley Post Airport all located in District 2. As a former Airman and Crew Chief assigned to Tinker, and now as Commissioner of District 2, one of my most important priorities is to support and protect Tinker Air Force Base from closure. Along with aviation District 2 is home to Healthcare and Bio-technology facilities such as Integris Southwest Medical Center, The Children's Center, Presbyterian Health Foundation Research Park, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center which includes OU Medical Center, Children's Hospital, Dean McGee Eye Institute, and the Veteran's Administration Medical Center.
The center of state government, the Oklahoma State Capitol and the Governor's Mansion are found in District 2. If entertainment is what you seek, come and enjoy the Oklahoma Historical Society Museum, Bricktown and the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark while in District 2.
Many major and established facilities make their home in District 2 including Oklahoma City Community College, Southwest College of Ministries and Southern Nazarene University. Coming soon is the Native American Cultural Museum.
