C. Wesley
Lane, II
BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
Wes Lane was appointed the Oklahoma County District Attorney by Governor Frank Keating on July 1, 2001 after the retirement of longtime District Attorney Robert Macy. In November 2002, Wes Lane was elected as Oklahoma County District Attorney. He was sworn into office on January 2, 2003 . Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Wes received his undergraduate degree and law degree from the University of Oklahoma. In 1987, he married Dr. Lori Hansen Lane, a facial plastic surgeon. In 1991 they met a 10 year old fatherless youth, Derrick, and have raised him as their own. Derrick is presently serving in the Oklahoma National Guard and will be going active duty the summer of 2002. Wes and Lori attend City Church in downtown Oklahoma City. Wes has over 20 years of experience in the prosecution of criminal cases and the practice of law. During his tenure as an Assistant District Attorney he accumulated an exceptional trial record, winning about 95% of his jury trials. His service to Oklahoma County began in 1980, while he was still a law student, when he became a legal intern for the Oklahoma County District Attorney. After graduation in 1981, he was appointed Assistant District Attorney by Robert H. Macy. Having served as a prosecutor in Misdemeanors, General Felony and Narcotics, Wes became the Chief Prosecutor for the District Attorney’s Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force, which targeted major drug dealers and smugglers. He held this position for some five years before becoming the Director of the Juvenile Division in 1995, where he directed a significant effort toward both the prevention of juvenile delinquency as well as increased accountability of juvenile offenders. Wes is very interested in comprehensive solutions to public safety, and has been involved over the years in efforts to create partnerships between police, neighborhoods, universities and other community leaders and government agencies to reduce crime. Some of such efforts upon which he is presently focusing include both the methamphetamine and prostitution problems that are currently plaguing the greater Oklahoma City area. Current Activities
