Searches

Searches
Searches for illegal items are done for your safety and for all the residents, staff and the Detention Facility. Illegal items are anything you have on you or in your room that has not been approved or given to you by staff. Any illegal item found during a search will be taken by staff and given to the Shift Supervisor. The Shift Supervisor will turn the illegal items over to the Facility Administrator and he will decide what should happen. The seriousness of the consequence would be determined by the seriousness of the illegal item.

Frisk Searches
You will be frisk searched when you are admitted into Detention, returned from Court, after visitation, and when returning after leaving the Facility.

Frisk Searches
Resident’s rooms and clothes will be searched every night and at other times, as deemed necessary.

Strip Searches
Strip searches can occur only with authorization from the Shift Supervisor and with probable cause, or in other words, with good reason. The staff searching you would be of the same sex as you. If staff have probable cause to believe you are hiding weapons or illegal items, the Shift Supervisor could authorize a visual strip search.
