General InformationAlthough most of the girls in the program are court-involved, some of them are there at the request of their parents. In reality, none of these girls will be happy about attending the classes at first. However, we believe that when these young women see how this information directly relates to their lives and see how positive and encouraging the speakers and facilitator are about their future, they will quickly get past that adolescent "attitude" with which we're all familiar. We will eventually see the real person, often scared and unsure of herself, who lies just below that veneer of attitude. With a little patience, we might even see some gratitude for carrying on a tradition as old as humankind, the teaching of survival skills to the young. |
