Program Specifics

Referrals
Girls are referred to the program by probation and intake officers from the Oklahoma County Juvenile Bureau and the Oklahoma City Municipal Court. Girls can also be referred by parents and other social services agencies. To qualify for the program, the young woman must be between the ages of fourteen and seventeen. All referrals go through or DeAnna Dixon, Administrator of Special Probation Services at the Juvenile Bureau.

Cost
The cost of the program for all young women referred through the Courts is $15.00. Referrals by parents and other agencies is $25.00. Under very special circumstances, an intake or probation officer may request a scholarship for a young woman, which must be approved by the program staff. A participant may receive only one scholarship.

Requirements for Completion
Although a girl must attend twelve classes in a row to graduate from the program, the format is open-entry and open-exit. She will be required to do an initial assessment with the facilitator, at which time they will decide her entry and exit date. When she completes the program, she will receive a certificate of completion and a book on survival skills.
