Mail

The Oklahoma County Juvenile Bureau will put stamps on 2 personal letters a week for you. There is no restriction on legal mail. You can have your own stamps if you want to send more than 2 personal letters a week. Detention keeps a record of the mail you send and receive. Staff will supervise the opening of all letters and packages received. If there is something besides a letter inside, it may be put with your property, returned to the person who sent it, or given to the Facility Administrator. You will be told if any property is kept from you. Mail without sender's return address on it will also be placed in your property locker. Mail with gang writing on the outside of the envelope will be returned to the sender. All first-class letters and packages received for residents who have left the facility will be forwarded or returned to the sender.

You are not allowed to have magazines, newspapers or periodicals brought in to the Facility. You are not permitted to send letters to victims or witnesses.

You cannot get letters from other juveniles that are in a Juvenile Institution or an Adult Institution where juveniles may be.
