Responsibilities

(Things you must do)



1.    Each resident must follow Detention rules, procedures, schedules and directions from the staff.
2.    You are responsible for not setting apart as different, other residents or staff and not using words or behaving in a way that is bias or shows disfavor toward another.
3.    You must keep your living area clean and neat.
4.    You must ask for medical or dental care when you need it.
5.    You must follow the rules during visits. Do not take anything from or give anything to a visitor. Do not send or receive anything illegal through the mail.
6.    Keeping your clothes clean.
7.    Tell Detention staff if you think your rights have been violated.
8.    Follow procedures to file a grievance (complaint). You should tell Detention Supervisors about anything done against you by other residents, Detention staff or volunteers.

While you are in Detention, the staff will write a report on you every day. They will write in the Staffing Notes things like your attitude toward staff and other residents, if you went to school, if you participated in programs and activities and if you were in any incidents or fights and your score/status. (The level System is explained to you later in this handbook.) This information may be reported to your worker and the court.
