Deputy Justice
In 1997, a Sheriffs Office mascot was developed for use in
crime, gang and drug prevention programs aimed at children. Mrs. Kimbros 4th
grade class at Western Oaks Middle School won the name-the-mascot contest with the name
Deputy Justice. The students got to meet Deputy Justice, deputies and Sheriff
Whetsel at Celebration Station for fun, games and educational instruction on stranger
danger and drug awareness. Deputy Justice has visited more than 300 schools and
participated in numerous civic and community events. Children learn that deputies are
their friends while learning positive information.
