The Transportation Unit was formed in March of 1997. The unit is responsible for transporting inmates to court, medical appointments, mental health facilities, and funerals. Statistics from the year 2006 show:

38,128 inmates were transported to state and federal courts.

1,960 inmates transported to the Department of Corrections after sentencing

1,231 inmates were taken to mental health facilities.

424 inmates were transported to medical facilities.

16 inmates transported to attend funerals.
