Property and Evidence

The Property and Evidence Section has been restructured to improve overall operations. In 1997, the Property and Evidence Section received responsibility for the dry-storage area which includes document archives, jail and kitchen dry goods, chemical storage, and bulk item storage. All supplies and consumable goods are tracked and accounted for and a safe environment for records is provided. The Property and Evidence Section is responsible for supplying, stocking, and tracking all equipment, supplies, uniforms and consumable items of the Sheriff’s Office. A new computer system has improved accountability for property and evidence. In 1997 and 1998 the Sheriff’s Office purchased 78 patrol vehicles, 4 patrol motorcycles, 6 vans, 3 buses, 2 pickups, 1 dare vehicle, 72 field radios, 72 jail radios, 184 mobile radio units, and 160 computers. These items have dramatically enhanced the operation of the Sheriff’s Office. During the past 2 years the Property and Evidence Section has held 2 auctions of surplus property and seized property with the proceeds going to the Sheriff’s training fund.
