Transportation Unit

The Transportation Unit was formed in March, 1997, consisting of 8 deputies who transport all inmates scheduled for court. In 1998, 15,664 inmates were safely transported to court without incident. This unit is also responsible for transporting inmates to medical appointments. Although, most inmate medical care is provided in the jail, 275 inmates were transported to outside medical facilities. This unit also has 3 deputies on a part-time basis transporting mental health patients from hospitals to Mental Health Court and back to private hospitals or Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman. Over 970 patients were transported in 1998.
