Forrest "Butch" Freeman
Forrest "Butch" Freeman first became Oklahoma County Treasurer in December 1993, following a special election to fill a vacancy. In 1994, Mr. Freeman won a full four-year term, the first time for him to hold elected public office. He was unopposed in 1998.B orn in Macomb, Missouri, Mr. Freeman graduated from the University of Missouri in 1965 with a Bachelor of Journalism degree and earned a Masters of Business Administration degree in 1970.M r. Freeman came to Oklahoma because of his Air Force service. His last Air Force assignment was as Comptroller for Tinker Air Force Base. Following retirement from the Air Force as a full Colonel in June, 1989, Mr. Freeman remained in Oklahoma and served as vice-president of Data Monitor Systems, Inc. in Midwest City before joining the County Treasurer's staff in September, 1989.M r. Freeman has been active in economic development projects for Oklahoma County, working on the effort to bring a United Airlines maintenance facility here. More recently, he was a member of the three-person team that prepared the community's presentation to the Base realignment and Closure Commission in defense of Tinker Air Force Base.M r. Freeman is a member of the board of directors of Data Monitor Systems, Inc. and also serves on the boards of the Midwest City and Choctaw Chambers of Commerce. He also is a member of the Choctaw Industrial Development Authority, Consumer Credit Counseling Service, Youth Leadership Exchange, Eastern Oklahoma County Vo-tech Foundation Board, and the Midwest City Rotary Club. He is the 1998-99 President of the County Treasurers of Oklahoma Association. He and his wife, Bobbie, have two children and live in Choctaw.
