MYLES DAVIDSON OKLAHOMA COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT THREE
January 21, 2026
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Oklahoma City, OK - Commissioner Davidson released the following statement regarding the proposed sales tax measure currently under consideration: "I can't support this proposal in its current form because it asks voters to approve a new tax without providing the level of detail, accountability, and long-term planning that taxpayers deserve. Any sales tax — especially one that would be permanent — should come with clearly defined allocations, enforceable guardrails, and a transparent plan for how funds will be used, measured, and adjusted over time.
I support investing in public safety and core services, but I believe we owe residents a proposal that is specific, fiscally responsible, and built to earn public trust before asking them to pay more at the register:"
Commissioner Davidson emphasized that voters deserve clarity and accountability before being asked to commit to a permanent tax increase, and reiterated a willingness to work collaboratively on a revised proposal that meets those standards.
