OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office has been informed that the Attorney General’s Office will assume prosecution in the case against Ocean Hudson, the defendant charged in the May 1, 2025, assault and stabbing of an Edmond Police Officer.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on May 1, an Edmond police officer was conducting a routine traffic stop near 15th and Broadway when a man—later identified as Ocean Hudson—approached, pepper-sprayed the officer, and initiated a violent struggle. During the altercation, Officer Hodam was stabbed multiple times. Additional officers responded quickly, deploying a Taser and taking the suspect into custody. Officer Hodam was transported to OU Medical Center where his injuries were treated. He was released five days later.

Hudson was arrested at the scene and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center, where he remains on a $5,000,000 bond. Charges were filed by the District Attorney’s Office on May 9, and a preliminary hearing had been scheduled for August 28.

“We take attacks on law enforcement seriously, and our office acted quickly to charge the defendant and move the case forward,” said District Attorney Vicki Zemp Behenna. “While Attorney General Gentner Drummond’s office will now lead the prosecution, werecognize our shared commitment to ensuring that violence against police officers is met with swift and serious legal action.”

“So far this year, our office has filed more than 3,200 felony cases—each one a reflection of our commitment to protecting the people of Oklahoma County,” Behenna said. “When an officer is violently attacked during a routine traffic stop, it undermines public trust and endangers the very system designed to protect all of us.
